I absolutely love cooking with mushrooms, and one of my all-time favorite recipes is a savory and satisfying mushroom with tofu dish. This vegetarian recipe is not only delicious but also packed with protein and nutrients. Let me share with you my go-to mushroom with tofu recipe that never fails to impress!
Ingredients:
- 1 block of firm tofu
- 2 cups of sliced mushrooms (cremini or shiitake work great)
- 3 cloves of garlic, minced
- 1 small onion, finely chopped
- 2 tablespoons of soy sauce
- 1 tablespoon of sesame oil
- 1 teaspoon of grated ginger
- 1 teaspoon of cornstarch
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Chopped green onions for garnish
Instructions:
- Begin by preparing the tofu. Drain the tofu and gently press out the excess water using a clean kitchen towel or paper towels. Cut the tofu into cubes and set aside.
- In a small bowl, mix the soy sauce, sesame oil, grated ginger, and cornstarch. This will be the flavorful marinade for the tofu.
- Heat a non-stick pan over medium heat and add the tofu cubes. Cook until they are golden brown on all sides. Once cooked, remove the tofu from the pan and set aside.
- In the same pan, add a little more sesame oil if needed, and sauté the minced garlic and chopped onion until they are fragrant and translucent.
- Add the sliced mushrooms to the pan and cook until they are tender and golden.
- Return the cooked tofu to the pan with the mushrooms and pour the prepared marinade over the mixture. Stir gently to coat the tofu and mushrooms with the flavorful sauce.
- Allow the dish to simmer for a few minutes, allowing the flavors to meld together. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
- Serve the mushroom with tofu hot, garnished with chopped green onions.
This mushroom with tofu recipe is incredibly versatile. It can be served over steamed rice, quinoa, or even noodles. The combination of tender tofu, earthy mushrooms, and savory sauce creates a dish that is perfect for both weeknight dinners and special occasions. I hope you enjoy making and savoring this delightful recipe as much as I do!
Happy cooking!
